Kyle goes to Washington

Kyle leaves for Washington this weekend. He will be embarking on an exciting week from PRESIDENTIAL CLASSROOM.
He chose the media/journalism week of course. He will be attending all sorts of media events and meeting a lot of "WASHINGTON" people. We are very proud of him. This is an exciting opportunity for him.

SWEET WINTER VACATION

OK so we are not in Bermuda or Aruba, suntanning on an exotic beach, but I am off from WOOWOWOWWOOWOWOWOWRKKKK for one glorious week. It is so nice to get up without an alarm, most days, and just hang around doing whatever I feel like. All right, mostly whatever I feel like,, I do have 2 kids and a husband. We really had no great plans. The usual play dates for Cole, and mommy too and my hubby took a few days off to start some home projects too. We revisited a college campus today, and will probably visit one we havent on Friday. The never ending college saga... It comes down to... our son doesnt want to really be very far from home... so do we let him be a commuter student???? UGHGHG.. I wish we could give him all of our wisdom but I know sometimes you have to step back and let them do their thing.

So tomorrow it is off to lunch at a friend's house and maybe a little shopping. It will be Wednesday already. I don't think the week goes this fast when I have to get up at 5:00 every morning.....

When strangers become friends

The agency we are using for our Taiwan adoption is Journeys of the Heart in Washington state. We have a little yahoo group for those of us adopting or who have adopted from Taiwan and uses this agency. Since that group is a great source of information, comfort and comraderie during this long wait, everyone gets to know each other from their posts and pictures. This past Saturday some of us from NY,NJ, and CT decided to meet in person. We chose a midpoint for most. It turned out to be a really nice time. We met several other nice couples that will be waiting along with us and who have similar dates. Two of the couples just brought their children home from Taiwan, one a boy and one a girl. They are both 9 months old and very cute. Of course we held, cuddled and oggled them. These couples also gave us a lot of info and insight into this journey. This is one of those things where you feel funny going and then you are really glad that you did. Hopefully we can all be a help to one another and perhaps our children will become friends as they get older.

ONE YEAR TODAY

If you notice the ticker on the right side you will see that today is the one year mark of our official Log in to China. I can't believe it is a year already. It seems like yesterday, yet it feel like an eternity. Unfortunately, we won't see a daughter from China for at least another 2 years. Hence.. the reason we chose to switch to the Taiwan program with the agency Journeys of the Heart. We will hopefully have a referral with the next 6 - 8 months and then travel within 4 months after that.

If you notice the ticker on top it is 15 days since we logged in for Taiwan, hopefully next year we will be looking at that one year ticker with a little girl on our laps.

Onto family news.... our little guy played his last indoor football game last night.Unfortunately this team did not have the winning streak like his regular team. In fact they didn't win a game at all.

After the game we rushed to the 2nd grade Sweetheart dance. It was just me and Coleton since only one parent was allowed to go. In all the rushing around to get him form football to dance, I left my camera at home. But I did find out that he has some incredible dance moves... The whole head moving, body shaking thing,,, he was incredibly cute. It wound up that the parents stand around and the kids do all the dancing. VERY CUTE... My baby's first dance,,,.......HEAVY SIGH.
