Five Days

Oh wow... I can't believe I am saying this.... 5 more days until we leave to pick up our little girl.
Today's meltdown for me was was buying diapers. I went to T***get since they were having a sale. I get there and let's say I was a little out of my element. I felt weird.. not sure if weird is the word... more like I shouldn't be buying diaper, no, more like maybe people were looking at me thinking"why is this lady buying diapers?" So I am searching for the right baby pounds....ahhh she is only 13 pounds so that look like the 3 would be too big and the NB too small. Some guy came over to me asking if I needed help, " yes " I wanted to scream "why don't you have the right diaper size?" but instead I asked if he had any in the back. Then when he went to look I thought to myself maybe they don't make that size. He came back and no they don't have any... so off to Wa^^^^rt. Wala... they had one box left on the shelf of the size 2 Huggies. Then I tried to find the swin diaper in 3 different stores and again,no size 2 anywhere. I am gonna have to try the grocery stores for that tomorrow. Let me tell you, exhausting!!!

One week

We are leaving for Taipei in one week. I have been walking around since we heard about our final ruling in a total fog. Yesterday I put Paige on our medical insurance. Tried to find out about how my work leave will work out... the person I need to talk to is on vacation. We confirmed our flights, picked out our seats, confirmed the hotel( we are staying at the Grand Hyatt)and sent our itinerary to our agency.

We arrive in Taipei on the 5th and arrive home on the 12th. We are flying American Airlines going, and EVA coming back. We are using frequent flyer miles going and purchased EVA tickets coming back (direct flight). Coleton is coming with us and Kyle is not. He has too many commitments to come at this point in time. He will stay home and watch the dog, and my neighbors, parents, and sister will watch him... actually noone really wanted this job. Coleton is really excited but more excited to take the limo and to go to the airport than the actual part of being in Taiwan.

Today, I got my manicure and pedicure (like Paige is really gonna know the difference) and tomorrow I get my hair cut. Hey, I want my little girl to not scream in terror as she looks at me ...HA.

Tomorrow's to do list includes: shopping for baby essentials for the trip,
stocking up on some diapers for when we get home, finishing up my gift list and getting the rest of the gift bags and ribbon.

The rest of the week: get packing- Jules I promise I will get packing.. I have everything in Paige's crib ready to be packed. Bringing up the high chair, the bouncy seat, the excersaucer. Installing the car seat.

Have I told you that this all feels surreal? After all this time of waiting we are going to go get Paige. I keep thinking I am going to get an email telling me it was a mistake... But no, I so can not wait to see her face and hold her. I keep thinking if she will be tiny, is she crawling?, will she cry when she first meets us? I am nervous about making bottles ( I always breastfed or used the ready made formula). I know it will all be fine... Keep on telling me this.

Travel confirmed

It is all coming together. We managed to make our travel arrangements for the earlier date. We will be picking up our Paige on August 7th...oh what a birthday present for me!!!!! We have a lot to accomplish this week. We need to gather all of our required paperwork, shop for essentials for travel, buy diapers and pack. This week my little guy has baseball camp all day, so I have plenty of time to run around and do my errands. We are really excited!! After 3 years we are finally completing our family and bringing home Paige.

FINAL RULING FINAL RULING FINAL RULING

Pyzam Glitter Text Maker

Glitter Graphics Maker & MySpace Layouts

Our baby girl is coming home. Final ruling was issued today. She is legally ours. We are officially a family of 5. We have a daughter. Our Paige is finally ours. Yes, we are sososososos excited we can hardly believe it.

Ok so this is how my day went today. I was getting more frustrated by the hour. As there was no email from my agency. I was working on a photobook, and had just finished talking to both of my girlfriends (no not at the same time). Of course I was whining about how I couldn't stand another moment of this loooooooong wait. I was just about to sign off of the computer where I was working on my photobook. It was 3:40 and my little guy had to get dressed for his baseball game that we were leaving for shortly. I dedicided to check my email one last time before I turned off the computer. It was there.. the email I was waiting for : subject- GOOD News.
I screamed, cried, danced, and then called my husband who was already on his way home for the baseball game. I cried, screamed, danced some more. Hung up with him and then called everyone. Hubby called our travel agent. We had to leave at 4:30 to get to the game. They want us to pickup Paige on Aug. 7th but we can not find a flight out until the 11th. I hope they can change the AIT appointment. We really want to use our frequent flier miles otherwise it will cost us a small fortune. So what is 5 more days, when we waited 3 years for this moment.... aggghhhh.

It really has happened. We have a daughter. This rates up there with one of the best days in our lives.

Updates are in!!

Today we received updates of our beautiful Paige Min Shan. They were taken on 6/30/08. Again, I have such mixed emotions about it. First they are finally giving her our toys and she is wearing one of the outfits we sent. She does look happy. However I noticed that she has her 2 bottom teeth. I am so, so sad about this. I should have been the one to feel the first bumps of new teeth, and to discover that she had them. I know they are only teeth, but still I feel like we are missing so much. She is a peanut, weighing in at only 13.4 lbs and 25 inches. We love her sooooo much already.

Please

Oh please let this be the week!!!!

Still here

I know, I know....what a bad blogger I am. We have been very busy with baseball and oh yes summer. ahhhhh I love summer soooo much. This week I promise I will post video of Paige's room. I just have to upload the video. I also hope to have updates of Paige... stay tuned for that. On the ruling front, my friend Heather(her blog can be read on the right side bar) received her final ruling for her beautiful daughter last week, and we seem to be 2 weeks behind her in our rulings. So our hope is that we will have really big news in the next two weeks to report. Yes, my stomach just did a flip like yours when you read this. I will repeat it. HOPEFULLY WE WILL HAVE SOME BIG NEWS IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

Fourth of July weekend

We had a great weekend. John's cousins from Washington state came to New York and spent some time here with us. Interesting story. John had never met anyone from this side of the family. His cousin a few years back started to do a whole geneology on the family and led to us. Turns out there is a lot of family on that side. We have kept in touch since usually with Christmas cards and emails and now facebook. So when Barbara decided to do this amazing cross country trip with her niece Krystal she asked if they could come visit. We had a great time with them. We took them to Montauk to see the oldest lighthouse on Long Island and they came to our fourth of July bash at my brother's house and then fireworks at my sister's house.

Bubble Tea

Just a short post. I will post about our family visitors and our weekend when I have more time.

I stumbled across a local place not far from home, that had BUBBLE TEA. I have been wanting to try this drink before we go to Taiwan. I have heard so many people talk about this tea when they traveled. I had a bannana flavor, and the girl that was making it was there as an exchange student so she was telling me all about Taiwan and how she loved it. The only difference she told me is that their bubble tea uses Black tapioca pearls instead of white. It was delicious!!! Loved it. However it was probably a lot of calories cause it was made with whole milk and the tapioca. I am so glad that at least this is there and I can send all my friends to try this TAIWANESE drink.
Read on to find out more about this drink:
Bubble Tea originated in Taiwan in the early 1980's at a small tea stand.
Elementary school children would look forward to buying a cup of refreshing tea after a long, hard day of work and play. Tea stands were set up in front of the schools and would compete for business with the best selling tea. One concession owner became popular with her tea when she started adding different fruit flavoring to her tea. Because of the sweet and cool taste, children loved the taste. Soon, other concessions heard about the "unique" and popular tea, so they started to add flavoring to their teas. When adding flavor, the tea and flavoring needed to be shaken well for a good all around taste. This formed bubbles in the drink, which came to be known as "Bubble Tea."

In 1983 Liu Han-Chieh introduced Taiwan to tapioca pearls. The new fad was to add tapioca pearls into a favorite drink. Most of the time tapioca pearls were served in cold infused tea. After the tea and flavor were shaken well, it topped tapioca pearls that were sitting on the bottom of a clear cup. The tapioca pearls also looked like bubbles, thus also became to known as "Bubble Tea." Bubbles floated on the top your drink and bottom of your drink.

Bubble tea is also known as boba drink, pearl tea drink, boba ice tea, boba, boba nai cha, zhen zhou nai cha, pearl milk tea, pearl ice tea, black pearl tea, tapioca ball drink, BBT, PT, pearl shake, QQ (which means chewy in Chinese) and possible many others.

Bubble drinks are usually cool, refreshing, and a sweet drink with tapioca pearls sitting on the bottom of a clear cup. Sometimes the drink is made with fresh fruits, milk, and crushed ice to create a healthy milk shake. You can also find drinks that are made of powdered flavoring, creamer, water, and crushed ice. And if you like it like the Asians do, the cool drink usually includes a healthy tea, infused by a flavoring.

Tapioca pearls are black, but can sometimes be found to be white or transparent. Depending on the ingredients of the pearl, the color varies. I've been told that the white and translucent pearls are made of caramel, starch and chamomile root extract. The black pearl includes sweet potato, cassava root and brown sugar, which add the black color.

The consistency of tapioca pearls are somewhere between jell-o and chewing gum. They are the size of a marble. They are also known as the "boba" drink in Western China because it is described as to having the same texture as the female breasts.

A clear cup with black balls on the bottom can easily identify bubble Tea drinks. Another obvious trait is a huge fat straw. The fat straw is needed so that the tapioca pearls can be sucked up with the drink and eaten. Bubble Tea's appearance definitely makes it unique.
One thing is for certain. Bubble Tea is not a fad. It's a trend. This drink is addictive. If you've had a good one before then you know what we're talking about.
