Today we went to the Taipei zoo. It was not the Bronx zoo which we love, but a little smaller, and you can accomplish the entire zoo in 2 1/2 hours. The highlight of the day was Panda bears . They were in an indoor display and the zoo people made you move along rather quickly.
We also got Paige's passport and Visa and all her customs paper work. We are good to go.
Oh yea, did I tell you how hot it is here? You really sweat just standing outside, and forget the hair- just wasnt happening for me this week.
We had a ittle time this morning before the zoo so we went back to the mall in Taipei 101 but this time we went to the basement level, and discovered a whole floor of food. It was a supersized food court. I got aother bubble tea ...mmmmmm.
Tonight we found a restaurant somewhere in Taipei, that did hot pots. This time it was a buffet. You go and fill your plate with raw meats, vegatables, raw fish and things that I didnt know what the heck they were and then you put them in the boiling water and then you eat it all. Interesting!
All in all I have found that Taiwan is an interesting place. Very different from us in many ways, and the same in many ways. The driving here is out of control.. betweeen the scooters and everyone turning into each other... but noone reall honks that much, or seems to get mad at the other drivers. It is a coumtry rich in it's traditions but yet wanting to try to be very modern. Iam glad that we had this time here. I will admit, that I thought I would feel funny being here- being white - but most people just go about their business- and I don't feel so different.
Tomorrow we have two more places to go before we fly out in the evening. We will be heading over to a temple, and to th botanical gardens. Then we will be heading to the airport around 3:30 for our 15 hour flight home. I want to thank everyone for their well wishes. This was truly and amazing journey, and one that I will always remember. Paige is the most amazing little baby girl, and we are so lucky that she is our daughter.
