Chinese new Year Part 2 of 3

This is was our third year celebrating Chinese New Year!! It is our first one celebrating with Paige being home..This is the first year that Owen is home with his family as well. We celebrate each year with our good friends who have children from China. We are so blessed to have these wonderful families in our lives.
This year we really had it down pat with the food. We each made a dish. Everything was delicious. I made shrimp and bokchoy and LoMein as well. Delicious.
The Lomein was simple: I used a Rachel R**ay recipe.
Lomein:
red pepper, garlic, shallots, ginger- sliced and sauted in oil- I used regular olive oil. Take a bag of fresh bean sprouts and throw in the wok to saute with the other ingredients. Boil lo mein( we had some from an oriental grocer- but you can use linguine ) throw it in the wok add some tomari soy sauce and toss together. EASY!
We had sesame chicken, orange beef, fried rice, wontons and scallion pancakes. For desert we had a beautiful Lantern cake made by JO, I made a Taiwanese truffle recipe here, cake balls, and cupcakes.

Everyone had a great time- I think we definately have the spirit of the Chinese New Year- eating and enjoying family and friends.
