Divine Intervention

It is always an interesting experience when I go shopping with my daughter. No not interesting in the respect that she doesn't want to sit in her carriage anymore, or be held by me or anyone else for that matter. No, not that she is only a little over 18 pounds and squirms so much in you arms that your arms and wrists feel like they are going to explode from the tension of holding thus squirming child in such odd positions so that her head doesn't smash to the ground. No,not the experience of finally putting her down and then she runs away down the aisles that you have to leave, purse, shopping bag and whatever else sitting abandoned in aisle, in high persuit of this very quick child. No, the interesting experiences are usually from encounters with people.

The other night we ventured out to the store and the cashier who helped us asked me if Paige was adopted. Now - remember that I had just suffered through an hour of the above so my choices were A) ingnore her B.) tell her no C) It's none of your business or D) yes she is. I chose D - and I am glad I did. This young women proceeded to tell me about how she was adopted and was one of 15 adopted children. She told me how wonderful her parents were, how much she loved them and how race was a non issue in her multicultural family(she was african american). She said how happy Paige looked (even after the sweat was dripping from each of our brows due to our hour long wrestling match) and how she was sure Paige would grow up and love us as much one day as she loved her parents. ***Was she a plant from above sent to tell me this because I was having such crazy day????

I think gifts come to us in all different shapes, sizes and when we often are not looking for them!

What a gift this was and just at the right time!!

I loved your description btw of your shopping "derby" with your sweetpea!!

Sometimes I think Mamas need a personal assistant for those kinds of outings! LOL

You do meet some angels just when you're at your wits end.

Oh I think you and I shop EXACTLY alike. And go to shoe store and library and well...just about everywhere ready for a wrestling match followed by pursuit! I left my stroller rolling down the hill at the zoo Friday so I could grab the run-away bunny before he got hurt!

Oh Paige sounds like such a windstorm of joy and eager adventure! And as exausting as it is for you to follow it's so wonderful to see that huge personality (especially out of such a cute little peanut!)

And yes...sometime just that right stranger comes to remind you of how amazingly blessed you are to have that ball of uncontrollable energy in your life!
And once you wipe that sweaty brow and catch your breath and have a quiet moment- well then it's so easy to see it too!
