I had a really fun day at work today. Well it was a conference day for us teachers- usually spent in some lame-o workshop having nothing to do with anything realistic. This year we thought out of the box and ventured out into the cold morning air. We did something called project care. It is a program designed to help us work together and stretch out of our comfort zones. We came up with 3 objectives that we wanted to accomplish- trust, communication and doing more with less.. oh yes we do a lot of doing more with less these days. Each activity was related back to how we could carry the concept into our professional lives. Our first activity was to send marbles and balls down a pike using team work.. Well that was easy and our team sent 100 "students" flying into the bucket.
The second activity was fun. We had to high wire around some trees using ropes, trees, and each other to make it to the end of the course...
The third activity was to climb a 35 ft pole in a harness with a partner- get up on a platform and then lean back from each other and then let go as we bungee jumped to the ground... Yes I actually did this.. I didn't think I could get up on that little platform without knocking my teammate off but everyone cheered me on and yes did do it..
It was fun, and I would recommend this type of team building for those that rely on each other for their day to day sanity at work.
